Karachi, May 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to release the schedule for the swearing-in of the elected representatives in Sindh without any delay, and warned that as many rhetorical and letter-writing measures as possible have been taken in this regard, now the PPP is left with no option but to protest and get its right.
Chairman PPP has also announced his priorities and action plan regarding the empowerment of the local bodies and resolution of public issues and said that the difficult test for the Jiyalas has begun throughout Sindh. In his address, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also extended the message to the institutions and warned that all the institutions should work within their domain, this time PPP will not tolerate any injustice nor will it be limited to a mere traditional opposition role.
Addressing the public meeting at the end of the Rally organized to celebrate the historic success of the PPP’s in the recent local elections across Sindh, including Karachi, the Chairman PPP said that from Karachi to Kashmore, there will be governments of Jiyalas first time in the history. He said that the hard work of his party workers and the people have put an end to the politics of hatred and division in Sindh for decades, adding that he is giving a message to the people of entire Pakistan that we have ended the politics of hatred and division in Sindh, now we will bury this kind of politics across Pakistan.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the priorities of his party regarding the local bodies and said that improving the public health system will be his party’s first priority. Hospitals under local bodies will be made NICVD standard hospitals. The second priority will be the education sector. The neglected educational institutions will be run by NGOs and other institutions under Public Private Partnership mode. Transport and solid waste management will be improved in collaboration with local bodies.
The third priority will be poverty alleviation programmes, and in this regard the ongoing program of SRSO will be extended to every Union Council. The fourth priority would include providing residential plot ownership rights to flood victims and slum dwellers. The Provincial Local Government Minister shall be bound to take action as per the will of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Chairman. The authority to collect property tax will also be delegated to local bodies.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PPP is not afraid of elections, they are ready for elections. We also know how to contest and win elections. We have shown only a tiny part in Karachi, we will get rid these political terrorists from the entire country. He said that we have fought against every dictator, every puppet and terrorist. We have faced the politics of Altaf Hussain in Karachi, this is what Imran has done.
Addressing his party workers, the PPP Chairman said that he had seen the martyrdoms of his leader Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, but he never attacked GHQ or set fire to Jinnah House. President Asif Ali Zardari was imprisoned for 12 years, but then no Chief Justice called him from jail. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto were also summoned from the jails by the Chief Justices of that time but they were never welcomed with a note on happy to see you!
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Pakistan People’s Party does not believe in revenge politics. Referring to the historic public meeting in Lahore on the occasion of the return of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto during the reign of dictator Zia ul Haq, he said that according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the said public gathering was the largest in history, but Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto did not incite the participants of the Rally to take revenge of the martyrdom of the leader of the people. He further said that there was a lot of anger among the Jiyalas and the people over the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. The GHQ and Corps Commander houses were still there, but President Asif Ali Zardari raised a slogan “Pakistan Khappay”, I also joined him with “Democracy is the best revenge”.
Criticizing Imran Khan, Chairman PPP said that nothing has happened to these political terrorists, and their facilitators are also present in every corner, but he does not leave the house without a bucket on his head. The captain could not even spend a night in the guest house and saw that he might not have to spend eight days in jail, in this fear he attacked the entire country. He said that Imran Khan is such a coward that he is afraid to go to the jail where he sent President Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur.
Advising PTI’s ideological workers, he said that if they want to continue their political role, they should disassociate themselves from the armed wing of the PTI. He further said that we were in favour of dialogue, and had asked our allies for dialogue, but now how should we negotiate with terrorists?
Talking about his recent visit to India, the Foreign Minister said that he sat on the soil of India and presented the case of Pakistan before the Indian people. He said that whenever there is a cricket match between Pakistan and India, our people pray for the success of their country, but when there was a match between the two countries on the foreign front, PTI members prayed for the success of India. Both PTI and BJP’s position was also the same. He said that when I go out of the country, I speak as a representative of Pakistan and defended Imran Khan’s visit to Russia during his first US visit.
Speaking in the context of the current situation of the country, the PPP Chairman said that the Judiciary in the era of dictatorship is fast and becomes excessively political in the era of democracy. He said that the judiciary was involved in the judicial killing of the leader of the people, while the government of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was terminated on the basis of a newspaper article. He said that General Faiz Hameed did not rig the 2018 election alone, even then the judiciary had become excessively politicized. “Enough is enough now, we will not allow the judiciary or the establishment to be rigged,” he added.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PDM has announced solidarity with the constitution next week, we are going to remind the Supreme Court that their work is not to interfere in politics. The way Imran Khan is being pampered is a joke with the constitution and the people. He said that the judiciary and the establishment cannot be a tiger force. He said that if we announce that we will celebrate next April 4 and December 27 in Room Number One of the Supreme Court, how will they feel? Our message is that institutions should work within their scope.
Foreign Minister strongly opposed India’s decision to hold the G-20 meeting in Srinagar, saying that this move means that India does not follow any international law, but whatever New Delhi does, adding that only Kashmiris will decide the future of the occupied valley.
