Allama Basharat Emami Commends Peaceful Completion of Muharram Processions Across Pakistan

Islamabad: During a recent meeting, Allama Basharat Emami, convener of the Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh Jafaria Pakistan Central Muharram Committee, praised various groups for ensuring the peaceful observance of Ashura throughout Pakistan. He highlighted the collaborative efforts that contributed to the successful and tranquil conduct of the mourning processions.

According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, Emami extended his gratitude towards the administration, scholars, mourners, media, and voluntary organizations, as well as the Shia-Sunni communities for their roles. He emphasized the importance of the rights to freely observe religious traditions, criticizing past government restrictions on religious gatherings. Emami urged the current government to rectify these unconstitutional practices to ensure that mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) could observe their rituals in peace.

The mourning period, as stated by Emami, will extend until the 8th of Rabi’ul Awwal. A special Muharram control room has been established by the Ministry of Interior to address any issues during this time promptly. Emami also called on the government to investigate and respond to the incidents of unrest that occurred during processions in various cities such as Okara, Sheikhupura Bhikhi, Haripur, DI Khan, and Kohat, ensuring that justice is served for any disruptions.
