Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Anticipates Strong PPP Showing in Upcoming Elections

KARACHI, November 6: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has confidently stated that the people will demonstrate their support for the PPP in the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8, spanning from Karachi to Kashmir. He expressed this during a media interaction after visiting Gizri Football Stadium.

According to Pakistan People’s Party, the Chairman highlighted the recent local body by-elections across Sindh, where the PPP’s successful candidates signified ongoing public support from Kashmore to Karachi. He emphasized that despite potential alliances among opposition parties, they cannot defeat the PPP, citing the party’s absence in government roles during these by-elections yet achieving voter endorsement.

Addressing speculations about a conversation between President Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Bilawal clarified that these reports were based on an old incident. He indicated ongoing communications with various parties, asserting that PPP would independently contest elections leveraging people’s power.

Chairman Bilawal projected a sweeping victory for PPP, anticipating control in the federation, provinces, and KMC. He stressed that a PPP-led government would expedite addressing people’s issues, particularly focusing on resolving water and unemployment challenges in Karachi. He extended this commitment to national youth employment.

On terrorism, Chairman Bilawal reaffirmed PPP’s firm stance, promising to tackle the issue through the full implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and supporting the police with necessary resources.

Regarding President Arif Alvi’s tenure, he noted that the constitution allows the President to remain in office until a successor is elected. He questioned why the Muslim League (N) did not address constitutional concerns during their previous government tenure.

Bilawal also condemned attacks on Jinnah House and military installations, asserting that those responsible would not be forgiven by the public or political parties.

Lastly, he expressed concern over halted development projects in Sindh, contrasting it with ongoing projects in Punjab and federally. He cited the prompt Election Commission response to Punjab’s requests while Sindh’s appeals remain unaddressed, leading to escalating unemployment.

The event was also attended by former Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, PPP Sindh General Secretary Senator Waqar Mehdi, and other party leaders.
