Bahawalpur, September 02, 2023 (PPI-OT):A seminar was organized in the Department of Religions, Scholars and Interfaith Harmony of Islamia University Bahawalpur. On the instructions of Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur and Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiqur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies, Dr. Sujeela Kausar, President of the Department of Religions, Scholars, Inter-Religious Harmony, and her team in the understanding of religions.
Organized an academic seminar on the role of languages in which a large number of students, teachers and researchers participated. On this occasion, Dr. Sajila Kausar thanked the audience and talked about the necessity of language in human life. He said that learning any language is like being exposed to a new culture. Language introduces man to new worlds and gives him an opportunity to closely observe the vast power of Allah. Professor Dr. Raheela Khalid Qureshi, President of Arabic Department, discussed the importance of Arabic language in understanding religion and in the light of his vast experiences; he encouraged students to learn new languages.
He said that he was an expert not only in the prevailing dialects of Arabic but also in the world languages of that time. It is following the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet to learn new languages for the propagation of the religion of Islam. He specially instructed the students of Islamiat to learn Arabic language. Professor Dr. Sheikh Shafiqur Rahman said that Islam allows learning any language, but it should be kept in mind that language also brings cultural invasion with it.
Therefore, we have to be aware that under no circumstances should we deviate from the paths given by the religion of Islam. Prof. Dr. Rozeena Anjum Naqvi, President of the Department of Persian, while talking about the Persian language, said that it is a two and a half thousand years old language, which according to some traditions also gave birth to an ancient language like Sanskrit. Persian is a landmark for understanding Sufism, Islam, Zoroastrianism and Jewish history keeps the source of the moral teachings of the subcontinent is hidden in Persian literature, so students must go to learn Persian language.
