Indus Corner of Hope: A Legacy to Build Greener and Healthier Pakistan

Karachi, August 18, 2023 (PPI-OT): In celebration of International Youth Day, Indus Hospital and Health Network’s Indus Yaqeen initiative and DHA College and School System (DHACSS) collaborated to inaugurate “Indus Corner of Hope” at all of the DHACSS 14 campuses across Karachi. Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President of IHHN, alongside Brigadier Muhammad Younus, Executive Director of DHA Education Directorate, senior management from IHHN, Principals of DHACSS and students, inaugurated this designated space at each campus by planting symbolic trees. Aligning with the United Nations’ mission to engage and empower the youth under this year’s International Youth Day theme, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards A Sustainable World,” ICOH initiative, aims to weave a lifelong connection between Indus Hospital and the DHACSS, motivating students, alumni and faculty and staff to contribute positively for a greener and healthier Pakistan.

Focused on the spirit of community service and social responsibility during the formative years, the young children and youth will be encouraged to nurture the planted tree and proactively participate in activities for raising awareness about clean environment, prevention from diseases, availability of quality healthcare and love and compassion for the community we live in. The ICOH will also serve to represent the legacy of DHACSS and IHHN partnership to sow the seeds of positive change and lifelong support to the vision of IHHN in making free and quality healthcare accessible to millions of people across Pakistan.

IHHN will also allocate commemorative green spaces, complete with trees, for each respective campus of DHACSS within its New Hospital Building Project at the Korangi Campus in Karachi. The ICOH plaques displayed at the DHACSS campuses, will be replicated in these green spaces, symbolizing a unified commitment to positive change. IHHN will take charge of nurturing and managing these allocated green spaces within its facility. The Indus Corner of Hope initiative aims to stand as a testament to the power of collective action, as it inspires the youth to be catalysts of change and champions of sustainability. Through this collaborative effort, IHHN and DHACSS continue to nurture youth towards creating a brighter and greener future.
