Bahawalpur, August 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): Bahawalpur: Governor Punjab and Chancellor Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman has said that the educated young generation is our valuable asset. Education, training and character building of the young generation are the guarantee of a bright future. He expressed these views while addressing the ceremony of giving laptops to meritorious students at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, former parliamentarians Begum Parveen Masood Bhatti, Fauzia Ayub Qureshi, Hasina Naz, Khalid Mehmood Jajja, Afzal Gill, Vice Chancellor Cholistan University of Animal Sciences Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Vice Chancellor Sadiq college Women University Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Saiqa Imtiaz, Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mushahid Anwar, Muslim League Leader Dr. Rana Muhammad Tariq, Ch. Saad Masood, Mian Shahid Iqbal, teachers and students were present. Governor Punjab and Chancellor Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman said that during the previous tenure of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, more than 5 lac laptops were given to intelligent students on merit. This scheme has been relaunched and this month more than 3000 students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will be given laptops on merit. He said that superiority of merit is the distinction of Pakistan Muslim League (N). He said that previous government used the youth generation to promote hatred. We will not allow the spread of hatred among the people of Pakistan through social media. He said that laptops have been provided to the youth on merit, their political affiliation was with any party. Governor Punjab said that according to the report of Transparency International, corruption has increased during the tenure of previous government.
He said that the issue of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been exaggerated on social media. Associating dirty videos on social media with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur without research is hurtful. He said that a high-level investigation is being conducted on all aspects of the Islamia University’s financial affairs, drugs and harassment and strict action will be taken against any kind of irregularity. He said that the teachers and students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are respectable and will not let their reputation be affected. He said that all resources are being used for women’s education and empowerment.
He said that there is zero tolerance policy on drug use in educational institutions and there will be no leniency with those involved in this kind of nefarious business. Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar and Deputy Director Higher Education Department Qasim Ali Shah also addressed the ceremony.
