Two-Day Workshop to Empower Ms/Phd Scholars with Modern Approaches in Islamic Research Held at Regional Dawah Center in Karachi

Islamabad, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Regional Dawah Center (Sindh), Karachi of Dawah Academy, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) conducted a “Two-Day Islamic Training Program for Students (MS/PhD)”. The workshop was held under the auspices of the Department of Islamic Learning at the University of Karachi, the workshop brought together 30 research scholars specializing in Islamic Studies. The central theme of the workshop was “Modern Contemporary Trends and Challenges,” aimed at fostering innovative research in the field.

Distinguished speakers at the workshop stressed the importance of integrating modern topics into Islamic research. Dr. Syed Azzal Rahman, a prominent figure in the field, shared his insights, stating, “It is the responsibility of all of us to find solutions to new problems in Islamic sciences.” Scholars of the workshop also emphasized the significance of addressing contemporary challenges in Islamic sciences.

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of Dr. Zeenat Rasheed, Chairperson of the Department of Qur’an and Sunnah at the University of Karachi. In her address, Dr. Rasheed said that the training programs conducted by the Da’wa Academy, highlighting their relevance in understanding the challenges of the present era. She encouraged students to utilize their research to benefit society amidst the current circumstances.

Dr. Syed Aziz ur Rehman, the In-charge of the Regional Dawah Center (Sindh), Karachi, expressed the institution’s commitment to raising awareness through training initiatives, emphasizing the importance of understanding modern research trends and contemporary challenges. During the two-day workshop, various notable speakers enlightened the participants on diverse subjects. Former Dean of Social Sciences and eminent religious scholar, Prof. Dr. Abdul Shaheed Naumani, delved into “Modern Trends in Hadith Science,” urging scholars to explore new trends in Hadith research relevant to the present age. He underscored the rich history of Hadith scholarship, with a particular focus on India’s significant contributions.

Dr. Syed Aziz ur Rehman shed light on “modern trends and needs of research in biographical sciences,” while Tasnimul Haq Farooqui discussed the “use of modern technology in scientific research.” Mufti Muhammad Owais Paracha delivered an insightful lecture on “Modern Jurisprudential Discussions and Research Needs.” Additionally, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ghaznavi, former head of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Karachi, emphasized the “Role of Media in Dawat Tabligh.”

The participating scholars expressed their appreciation for the workshop, considering it an invaluable resource in their academic journey. They voiced the need for Da’wah Academy to organize similar programs in the future, particularly for the benefit of new students entering the MPhil and PhD programs. At the conclusion of the event, participants were presented with certificates from the Dawah Academy and gifted selected books, serving as a token of their participation and knowledge gained.

During the concluding ceremony of the workshop In-Charge RDC said that this workshop has served as a platform for nurturing innovative research and fostering a deep understanding of the intersection between Islamic studies and contemporary challenges. He hoped that with an increased emphasis on addressing modern issues during the workshop, the scholars would be equipped to contribute meaningfully to the field and find practical solutions rooted in Islamic teachings.

University of Chitral inaugurates Youth Development Center to Enhance Student Services

Chitral, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah, proudly inaugurated the Youth Development Center/Student Facilitation Center at the University of Chitral today. This center, established in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, aims to provide comprehensive and convenient services to students. The Youth Development Center offers a one-window service to streamline various administrative processes. Dedicated windows for the Provost’s Office, Transport Office, Admission Office, Exam Office, and Bank of Khyber have been set up, allowing students to easily submit their fees and access the required services.

Addressing the audience during the inauguration, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Zahir Shah emphasized the University of Chitral’s commitment to enhancing student facilities. He urged the dedicated employees of the Youth Development Center to prioritize student convenience and ensure the provision of efficient services. Among the distinguished guests present at the event was Saiful Islam, the Additional Principal Secretary to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who graced the occasion with his presence and showed his support for the university’s endeavour.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Zahir Shah expressed sincere appreciation to the Higher Education Commission for their invaluable cooperation in establishing the Youth Development Center. Rescue 1122 Team Organized an Intensive 4-Day Cadet Corps Training Program

Lahore, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Rescue 1122 Team recently organized an intensive 4-day Cadet Corps Training Program for the enthusiastic students of Virtual University at its Model Town Campus, Bahawalpur. This specialized training aimed to equip the students with essential skills in emergency management and safety promotion. The mission behind the Rescue Cadet Corps initiative is to empower young individuals to become part of the Volunteers’ Corps, contributing to the establishment of sustainable, healthy, safe, and resilient communities.

We’re proud to announce that the students of Virtual University Model Town Campus showcased great enthusiasm and actively participated in this training program. A total of 33 students voluntarily registered themselves and successfully completed the training. To recognize their efforts, the Rescue Department has awarded certificates to each participating student upon completion of the program.

IIU Workshop Equips Researchers with Knowledge on Intellectual Property and Patents

Islamabad, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) of International Islamic University Islamabad hosted a workshop titled “Intellectual Property for Researchers and Patents: From Idea to Award.” The workshop, held at the Council Hall, aimed to empower faculty members with an enhanced understanding of intellectual property rights and the patent filing process.

During the workshop Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuja Sayed, Vice President of (Research and Enterprise), highlighting the purpose and significance of the workshop. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Sayed expressed his appreciation to the resource persons for sharing their expertise and commended the IIU ORIC for organizing such a valuable event. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Director of ORIC, IIU expressed his gratitude to the participants and thanked the resource persons of the workshop. Prof. Dr. Amir emphasized the forum’s commitment to regularly conducting such sessions, acknowledging their significance in building faculty capacity and improving the university’s research and innovation score.

Dr. Habib Ahmad, Assistant Professor from the Center of Advanced Electronics and Photovoltaic Engineering, took the stage as the first resource person. His informative presentation elucidated the fundamentals of intellectual property and provided comprehensive explanations of the intricate processes involved in filing patents. Dr. Ahmad’s expertise and insights proved invaluable in guiding the participants during the workshop. Ms. Attia Madani, a faculty member from the Faculty of Sharia and Law, delved into the IIU Intellectual Property (IP) policy. Ms. Madani shed light on the university’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting intellectual property, ensuring that researchers and innovators receive the due recognition they deserve for their work.

In his concluding remarks Dr. Shuja hoped that the workshops like this would prove to be invaluable platforms for faculty members to gain crucial knowledge on intellectual property rights and patent filing processes while, the enhanced understanding gained from this event, researchers at the International Islamic University are now better equipped to protect their intellectual creations and contribute to the advancement of innovation within the university’s community.

Candidates who want to apply for the Software Engineering and Electronic Engineering Departments at FJWU must have a minimum score of 33% in any of the following tests:

NAT-I conducted by NTS

Entry Test conducted by UET / NUST

ETEA for Engineering Departments

USAT conducted by HEC

Candidates who want to apply for the Law (LLB) Degree Program must have a minimum score of 50 in the Law Admission Test (LAT) conducted by HEC.

Test is not required for all other remaining programs/departments of Bachelors Program.
