Lahore, May 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Pakistan Study, Forum of Federation (FoF) in collaboration with GIZ PLG organized a consultative session on local Governance / Government on ‘Roles and Function of Local Government’ with the support to youth participation and local governance project. On this occasion, Director PSC Prof Dr Naumana Kiran, Associate Professor Dr Amjad Abbas Khan Magsi, faculty members and students were present while FoF Coordinator Abru Haider was addressed online. Dr Naumana welcomed the participants and hoped that the consultation will bring pragmatic policy inputs from the youth. She said that this project took an innovative and practical approach to democratic governance education-supporting local youth-led problem solving in provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The speakers were of the view that the youth participation in local government is important for the rights of people and focus on the development system of the welfare state. They stressed the need to enhance the youth participation and said that it is very clear to make opportunities for youth to engage with local government in decision making process with elected members. The students appreciated the activity which aimed to create avenues for the youth to address their needs, capacity building and create more opportunities for them especially related to Local Government.

When talking about Kashmir, a political party suffers here too. People’s Party Azad Kashmir Leaders Chaudhry Yasin, Sardar Yakub Khan, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Javed Ayub, Saifullah, Mian Waheed, Javed Badhanvi, Qasim Majeed, Bazal Naqvi, Nabila Ayub, Aamir Yasin, Sardar Zia Qamar addressed the press conference. Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the G20 conference is being held in India this year. India has made a deliberate effort to hold this conference in Occupied Kashmir.

Lahore, May 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): Three days 2nd International Conference on “Trends and Research in Chemistry (Hybrid)” was inaugurated at the University of Education, Lahore, with great enthusiasm and zeal on May 16, 2023 at Main Campus, Township. The ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I., H.I.), while the Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir was the chief guest. The eminent researchers and scholars from more than 30 countries including USA, Netherlands, France, Malaysia, China, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Australia, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia etc. are participating. Besides, a large number of scholars from different universities of Pakistan are also participating in this conference.

About one hundred research papers will be presented by researchers and scholars in the conference. At the beginning of the ceremony, the Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry Professor Dr. Mian Habib ur Rahman briefed the participants about the aims and objectives of the said conference. The conference aims to provide a platform for researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to share their research findings, exchange ideas, and discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field of chemistry. The conference also seeks to promote collaboration between researchers and institutions from different countries to advance research in the field of chemistry.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I., H.I.) welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of chemistry in our daily lives and the role of universities in promoting research and innovation. He also emphasized the need for collaboration between academia, industry, and government to address the challenges facing the country and the world. The Chairman of PHEC, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, in his address, appreciated the efforts of the UE specially Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I., H.I.) in organizing the conference and emphasized the need for international collaboration to promote research and innovation in the field of chemistry.

The scholars from different countries also delivered their speeches at the ceremony, highlighting their research findings and the latest trends and innovations in the field of chemistry. UE Lahore based Directors/Principals and large number of students were present in the opening ceremony.

Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) organized the “Quality Assurance and Accreditation Awareness Seminar” for the program Food Science and Technology (FST) that was conducted at Biomedical Engineering Department (BMED). All faculty members and students of Food Science and Technology and BMED participated in this seminar.

Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) is a private research university in Karachi, Pakistan. It was founded in 1994. Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology is spiritually associated with Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. The role of Muslim University Aligarh, in the process of the uplifting and well-being of the Muslims of the subcontinent, stands in bold relief in the annals of history. The domain of working of this university was not confined to teaching some subjects or dissemination of knowledge; it rather transcended these spheres and encompassed the building of character and development of personality of the students along with academics. SSUET is currently having four (04) faculties and more than 37 programs. Biomedical Engineering Department (BMED) is one of the oldest departments of SSUET, which is contributing significantly to the world of Healthcare and Technology. Currently, this department is offering six programs, (four undergraduate and two postgraduates.

The guest speaker Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC) explained the evaluation criteria of the accreditation process, which comprised 8 standards and 73 substandard, and the impact of accreditation on quality improvement through the data of the last 14 years. Presenting a vote of thanks, the Chairperson BMED, Dr. Sidra Abid assured that the administration would fulfill the accreditation requirements of NAEAC to maintain the high quality of education.

At the end of the seminar the souvenirs were presented to the guests. Earlier, during a discussion Engr. Dr. Sidra Abid Syed and Dr. Bushra Jabeen Mehdi briefed the guests about history of the Sir Syed University and its infrastructures including the physical and human resources of the Food Science and Technology Program.
