IUB organized the 2nd international conference on the interrelationship of social sciences and applied psychology 

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Department of Applied Psychology, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, organized the 2nd international conference on the interrelationship of social sciences and applied psychology at Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.

The theme of this year’s conference was Mental Health for All, Social Goals, Challenges and Sustainable Solutions. More than 100 delegates from various educational institutions and universities of Malaysia, Great Britain, Philippines and Pakistan participated in the conference.

While inaugurating the conference, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that due to the increase in problems related to psychology at the global level, the process of moving towards their scientific solution has accelerated. Universities play a key role in solving the psychological problems faced by today’s generation.

In these circumstances, the organizing an international conference by the Department of Applied Psychology the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and bringing domestic and foreign delegates together on one platform is a good initiative.

Practical support from University-based Enabling Center and Departments of Psychiatry, Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur and Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan was appreciated.

Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, said that more than 34 domestic and foreign experts will deliver keynote speeches on multifaceted topics related to psychology in the conference.

The recommendations of this conference will be conveyed to the policy makers and decision-making bodies so that steps can be taken for creating a peaceful and prosperous society. Conference Chair Prof. Dr Muhammad Saleem said that the Department of Applied Psychology is working on various projects along with teaching and high quality research.

This conference organized in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Commission will prove to be a milestone for teachers and students on the subject of psychology. Papers will be presented in the conference on mental health, media psychology, impact of corona crisis, educational psychology and impact on parental psychology.

The guest of honor Mohsin Rafique, DIG Jail Khana Jat, and Prof. Dr. Niaz Maqsood, Head Department of Psychiatry, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, spoke on this occasion. Foreign delegates participated in the conference Prof. Dr. Christopher Lewis, UK, Prof. Dr. Joselito Binano, Philippines, Prof. Dr. Rozni Bin Ismail, Malaysia, Dr. Khan Muhammad Raziuddin Tawfeeq UK presented keynote speeches on important topics.

Their topics include mental health of students and youth, family relationships and professional responsibilities, digital world, mental health and society, negative effects of violence and exploitation of disadvantaged groups, role of educational institutions in students’ mental health.

The first International Conference on Azmat Khawateen organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Faculty of Education Islamia University Bahawalpur organized the first International Azmat Women’s Conference at Baghdad Al-Jadeed Campus. The conference was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob. Principal Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Professor Dr. Sophia Farrukh was the guest of honour on this occasion.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob said that eminent researchers, academicians, decision-making public representatives and scholars have gathered at one place on this important topic. Islamia University Bahawalpur being a higher education institution is providing a platform for practical discussion and sustainable solutions on various social issues and problems. The main objective of this conference is to highlight and promote women’s greatness, professionalism and dedication to their families.

Islam advocates the greatness of women and in this regard the teachings and life of the Holy Prophet Tayyaba is a beacon for us. The efforts of Professor Dr. Irshad Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Education and other faculty members in organizing the conference are appreciable.

Seminar on “Fundamental Principles and Practices of Islamic Banks” was held at GM Ghotvi Hall, Abbasia Campus 

Bahawalpur, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Organized by the Department of Islamic Studies, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, a seminar titled “Basic Principles and Practices of Islamic Banks” was organized at Ghotvi Hall, Abbasia Campus. It was presided over by Professor Dr. Sheikh Shafiqur Rahman, Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Learning, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Representatives of State Bank of Pakistan and NRSP also participated in this event.

The Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies, Dr. Muhammad Imran thanked the distinguished guests and said that the teachers and students of his department welcomed Mufti Sheikh Nauman, Senior Sharia Scholar.

4th One Day International Symposium on “World Fisheries Day” was observed at UE 

Lahore, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 4th One Day International Symposium on “World Fisheries Day” was observed at University of Education, Main Campus on November 25, 2022. On this occasion training on “Small-Scale Fish Production and Its Meat Products” was also organized.

The Symposium was attended by international and national speakers including Dr. Sayed Hossein Hosseinfar (Gorgan University, Iran), Dr. Sikander Hayat (DG Fisheries, Punjab), Dr. Muhammad Ayub (Ex-DG Fisheries Punjab) Prof. Dr. Atif Yaqub and Dr. Mehwish Faheem (GCU, Lahore) and Dr. Shahzad Naveed Jadoon (CEO Alltech, Pakistan).

Faculty, students of many universities, Fish farmers, other stack holders from all over the Punjab, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Director Division of Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Alam Saeed and Chairperson Zoology Department Prof. Dr. Shagufta Andleeb also participated in the event.

Addressing the symposium, Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) said that Pakistan is primarily an agricultural country, which is rich in natural water resources, but unfortunately still we are not able to take complete advantages of these resources. Our fish production is less than one million metric tons.

In recent years, the fisheries sector has faced a number of challenges, including natural disasters, climate change, and environmental pollution and overfishing. He said that there is a lot of potential in aquaculture and if the private sector also participates by investing in it, the best results can be achieved, through this sector we can give strong support to our economy.

Our farmer is very hardworking and ready to learn new things. The Vice-Chancellor said that the main objective of this symposium is to provide a platform to all the participants, government representatives, researchers, private sector experts and teachers related to the fishing industry.

Speaking on this occasion, the guest speakers said that a substantial part of protein required for our body is obtained from fish and other marine life. By developing aquaculture, we can not only meet the needs of cities but also revolutionize the lives of the rural population.

Aquaculture is currently the fastest growing economy in the world, so we have to pay close attention to it as well. The speakers further said that there is no much public awareness about aquaculture but we believe that the aquaculture sector can be widely introduced by organizing this kind of symposium. At the end, Assistant Professor University of Education, Lahore Dr. Mudassar Shahzad thanked the participants of the Symposium.

Students week-2022 concluded 

Khairpur, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Students Week-2022 organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur concluded on Thursday November 24, 2022. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided the concluding ceremony while Mir Rohal Khan Khoso, S.S.P, Khairpur was the chief guest.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Amir Hussain Shar, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences and Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Advisor to Vice Chancellor on Academics were the guests of the honor.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said I am immensely impressed from the talent of the students who performed during the week. Co-curricular activities engage students to learn and contribute positively in the society because co-curricular activities train the students about community engagement and confidence building.

Dr. Ibupoto said that Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur is catering the academic needs adjoining with three provinces of country with great efforts. He also appreciated the keen interest of the S.S.P, Khairpur Mr. Rohal Khan Khoso who graced this event as chief guest.

Mir Rohal Khan Khoso said co-curricular activities create confidence, competition, co-existence and mutual cooperation among the students. The students of University possess potential and curiosity to learn about co-curricular activities. Mr. Khoso remarked that students are the agents of change in the contemporary trends.

He said Sindh is the fertile land in term of intellectual capital, knowledge and has rich culture, traditions and values. He also extended his cordial thanks to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for inviting him as chief guest to grace the event.

The certificates and shields were distributed among the winners of the various competitions held during the Students Week. He appreciated the untiring efforts of the Vice Chancellor for providing feasible, conducive and congenial environment to our students.

Notice for uploading and submission of official intermediate result card by the newly admitted students based on Hope Certificate (Fall 2022) 

Lahore, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Students admitted on the basis of Hope Certificate due to intermediate result awaiting, are hereby directed to upload by using LMS -Student Services – Registrar’s office – Document Verification (Hope certificate) link and submit three complete clear and readable attested photocopies of the official Intermediate Result Card on or before, Monday, December 5, 2022, for verification and confirmation of admission.

After uploading the soft copy of the official Intermediate, the applicants are also required to submit attested hard copies of the official Intermediate result cards within the due date. Documents may be submitted by hand or via courier as mentioned below as per the convenience:

Campus-Based Students: Campus-based students are directed to submit three attested photocopies of the official Intermediate Result Card at their respective selected PVC/Virtual Campus.

Home-Based/ Overseas Students: Home-based/Overseas students are directed to courier/post three attested photocopies of the official Intermediate Result Card Registrar’s Office, Virtual University of Pakistan, M.A. Jinnah Campus Defence Road Off Raiwind Road Lahore – Pakistan.

Note:

Please write Admission Form No. / Student ID number and Study Program on each document.
Admission will be marked CANCELLED without any further notice, for those who failed to upload and submit the official Intermediate Result card in place of the Hope certificate within the above-mentioned date.

If any applicants have failed to obtain at least 45% marks or 50% marks (for computer sciences programs) inform for cancellation of admission to the relevant admission section / PVC / Virtual Campus, so that admission formalities may be completed. Otherwise, the University will not be responsible for any misfortune.
