Seminar at PU SCS

Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University School of Communication Studies (SCS), Department of Development Communication in collaboration with Center for Peace and Secular Studies has organized a seminar on ‘Civic Education and Civic Liberty’ at Hameed Nizami Hall.

On this occasion, Ms Saeeda Adeeb from Peace and Secular Studies, Salman Abid from Institute for Democratic Studies, anchor person Ms Ayesha Bakhsh, Chairperson Department of Development Communication Dr Ayesha Ashfaq, Chairperson Department of Digital Media Dr Savera Shami, Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Akram Soomro, Program Manager PU FM Radio. 104.6 Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry, faculty members and a large number of students were present.

In her address, Ms Saeeda said that as a nation we should work together for the development and prosperity of the country. She said that the subject of citizenship should be taught at the school level in Pakistan. She showed the children a short film called “Socho Pakistan”. Salman Abid said that civilized nations in the whole world are recognized not by GDP but civic sense, while we have left the civic model behind.

He said that we should avoid harsh words to promote harmony. Ayesha Baksh said that we need to know the purpose of life. She said that if we recognize civic sense, awareness will be created in the coming generations. She said that with the increase in usage of social media, we have to create civic sense. Dr Ayesha Ashfaq said that only by fulfilling individual responsibilities we can fulfil collective responsibilities. Later, souvenirs were presented to the distinguished guests.

Punjab University Institute of Applied Psychology hosted the “Closing Ceremony” after successful completion of (3) Months course entitled “Addiction and its Management”

Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Institute of Applied Psychology hosted the “Closing Ceremony” after successful completion of (3) Months course entitled “Addiction and its Management”. Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP), initiated this short course in collaboration with Out of Box Consulting (Oobcon). From the IAP Director Institute of Applied Psychology, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique” and Dr. Afifa Anjum, Assistant Professor, IAP, attended the closing ceremony.

From OOBCON, Chief Operating Officer OOBCON “Ms. Maham Rasheed”, OOBCON Mentor “Dr. Mirrat Gul Butt” and course facilitators “Mr. Junaid Ahmed” Addiction Counsellor and National Trainer for Colombo Plan Council, and “Ms. Rukhsana Mahmood” Senior Consultant and Clinical Psychologist from Kinnaird College for Women, were present. Prof. Dr Rafia Rafique concluded the ceremony by lauding the enthusiastic professionals who completed the certified short course and distributed certificates among them.

Punjab University Institute of Applied Psychology organized a special talk on “Monash University’s Higher Studies Opportunities, Admissions and Scholarships” 

Lahore, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Institute of Applied Psychology organized a special talk on “Monash University’s Higher Studies Opportunities, Admissions and Scholarships”. The Guest Speakers for the talk were Dr. Khadeeja Munawar, who has done her PhD in Cognitive Psychology and is currently serving as Lecturer in Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Psychology, Monash University Malaysia and Dr Fahad Riaz, who is associated with Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences as Senior Lecturer and is working there at the Department of Psychology, Monash University Malaysia.

In the interactive discussion, Dr. Khadeeja and Dr Fahad addressed the queries of the students regarding how they can chose the most suitable career path after graduating. They further shared the diverse opportunities offered by Monash University, the Scholarship programs and the wide ranging courses offered by Monash University’s Campus in Malaysia and how students can benefit from varied range of study options and a supportive environment there.

Director Institute of Applied Psychology, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, Dr. Saima Ghazal, Associate Professor, Institute of Applied Psychology and other faculty members also joined the interactive discussion. Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique concluded the talk by thanking the guest speakers for taking their time out for the students of IAP.

Federal Minister Shazia Atta Murree elected Vice President of Socialist International Women 

Karachi, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program Shazia Atta Murri has been elected Vice President of Socialist International Women. According to the details, Federal Minister Shazia Murri said about this in a message on her social networking website Twitter.

She said in her own Twitter message that it is an honour to be elected as the Vice President of Socialist International Women from the Asia Pacific region and I am very grateful to my party leadership for the nomination for this position. I will always be committed to the promotion of social ideas related to the welfare of the people.

Minister Shazia Marri elected VP of Socialist International Women from Asia Pacific Region

Karachi, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme Shazia Atta Marri has been elected as vice president of Socialist International Women from Asia Pacific region. In her tweet, Shazia Marri stated that “it is an honour to be elected as Vice President of Socialist International Women from the Asia Pacific region”.

She said that “I am grateful to my party leadership for nominating me for this position. Pakistan People’s Party has reposed trust in my abilities to represent and Pakistan People’s Party remains strongly aligned to people centric socialist ideas. “I will always be committed to the promotion of social ideas related to the welfare of the people”, she added.
