Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari speaks with Turkish Foreign Minister 

Karachi, November 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on 15 November 2022 to express condolences on the Istanbul terrorist attack. He strongly condemned the heinous attack and reiterated Pakistan’s firm support to Turkiye in its fight against the scourge of terrorism. He also appreciated the efforts of the Turkish authorities resulting in immediate arrest of the perpetrators of this barbaric act.

The Foreign Minister underscored that the brave nation of Turkiye, with its resolute will and characteristic grit, will thwart all nefarious attempts to undermine its peace and stability. During the call, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked the Turkish side for providing excellent medical support to a Pakistani who had received injuries in the blast and wished speedy recovery to all those undergoing treatment.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari speaks with his Iranian counterpart

Karachi, November 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari spoke to his Iranian counterpart, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian yesterday, November 15th. The Foreign Minister expressed strong desire of the government of Pakistan to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, including trade, energy and connectivity, cultural contacts and people-to-people links.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the recent developments in the region and underscored the desirability of continued high-level engagement between the two countries in the interest of promoting peace and development. The Foreign Minister condemned the recent terrorist attack on a shrine in Shiraz province of Iran, and reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people. Both leaders agreed to maintain regular contact.

New districts and tehsils to benefit masses: CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi

Lahore, November 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):MPAs namely Malik Umar Farooq and Mian Waris Aziz met with Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office to discuss the political situation. They also informed the CM about the development projects in their constituencies and Baba Guru Nanak international Kabaddi tournament in Dijkot.

The CM assured to review giving the status of a tehsil to Dijkot on the request of Malik Umar Farooq and said that new districts and tehsils have been created for the convenience of the people. The new administrative units would provide real relief by solving public problems at their doorstep, he maintained.

Similarly, the 100 beds would be added to the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology along with the acquisition of cardiologists from abroad; he said and announced to inaugurate Samanabad hospital besides reviewing the provision of land for the press club during his next visit to Faisalabad.

Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi message on International Day for Tolerance 

Lahore, November 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that promoting tolerance through mutual understanding among people is the need of the hour. In his message, the CM said that in this era of growing extremism and violent conflicts, the importance of tolerance and patience is increased more than ever. Ending hate, intolerance and prejudice is only possible with love, tolerance and agreement, he added.

Let us make the world a better place for everyone to live with tolerance. Be tolerant and walk the path of tolerance as the world is already mired in countless problems due to intolerance. We have to follow the path of tolerance to keep society peaceful, he added.

The CM said that the blessed life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the best example of tolerance and patience as He (PBUH) adopted a tolerant attitude even with antagonists. The religion of Islam teaches us to be peaceful and tolerant and society also requires such societal norms. Not only the family but also the society is withered due to negative attitudes.

The CM maintained that positive thinking and best behaviour should be adopted to overcome intolerant attitudes and an attitude of tolerance should be adopted. Every stratus should play its role in promoting the norms of tolerance and patience, he concluded.

CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi accords principle approval to purchase 1200 drone cameras for Police and other departments 

Lahore, November 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi made a historic decision with regard to public safety and provision of facilities to the people. CM accorded a principle approval to purchase 1200 drone cameras for the police and other departments.

The Chief Minister apprised that the drone technology will be fully utilized for the public safety along with providing facilities to the masses. He vowed that he would make the policing system latest through the drone technology across the province and 1000 drone cameras will be taken only for the police adding that latest policing system will be promoted in the province with the help of drone technology and the capacity-building of the patrolling police will be enhanced.

He informed that street crimes and other crimes will be overcome in the province with the help of drone technology. The drone cameras will prove to be beneficial in order to bring the culprits and other elements in the stern grip of law with the help of latest drone technology and effective monitoring of rallies, processions especially during Muharram-ul-Haram and other religious festivals will be possible.

He said that a highly unpleasant incident occurred with a woman in 2021 adding that with the help of drone cameras such incidents can be prevented in future with the monitoring of parks and other recreational sites. The parks and recreational sites can be effectively monitored and any unpleasant incident can be immediately reported and the concerned departments will be able to give a timely response in this regard. He highlighted that with the help of night vision drone cameras the law and order situation can be improved during night time.

CM informed that the advance information about floods can also be obtained with the help of drone technology and the flow of water in the rivers can be monitored 24 hours. The concerned departments will be issued red alert in the wake of flood condition through the drone technology.

The relief activities especially provision of medicines and edibles to the affectees can also be benefitted through the drone technology. He stated that during fire eruption, earthquake or any other natural calamity, the relief activities can be launched on timely basis in the affected areas with the help of drone technology.

The Agriculture Department can be immensely benefitted from the drone technology. He stated that an effective spray can be possible on the fields with the help of big drones. Locust and other insects can be eradicated before time and agri production will be increased.

It will also help to make correct estimates of the production of fields adding that surveillance of mining activities in the salt range and on ground work can also be correctly ascertained along with the accurate number of trees can be estimated through the drone technology. The usages of drone technology hold a great significance to save precious lives during any natural calamity.

CM stated that with the help of drone cameras many precious lives can be saved with regard to the rescue activities. He disclosed that a separate wing will be established in Punjab for implementation on this programme and the usage of drone technology. The staff will be imparted training from a Chinese company about the usage of drone technology.

CM directed the police and other concerned departments to formulate their final recommendations for taking drone cameras and added that the concerned departments should submit their final reports at the earliest keeping in view their needs. CM underscored the attainment of drone technology is a unique and latest ever programme in the history of Punjab. CM Pervaiz Elahi met with a delegation of an eminent drone technology company Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI).

The delegation comprised Mr. Lai Man Yuk, Mr. Colt Chen, Mr. Lumen XU, Mr. Honjingye Zhang, Mr Man Yuk Lai, Mr. Zhenwen Lian, and Mr. Alistair KUNG. The Chinese company delegation gave a detailed briefing to the CM with regard to improving different services through the drone technology.

Provision of environment for promotion of education is responsibility of government: President Arif Alvi 

Lahore, November 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Addressing the convocation 2022 of Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) as the chief guest, President Arif Alvi said that the provision of an enabling environment for the promotion of education is the responsibility of the government. He said that he is happy to learn that women are half the number of the students studying at MUL. He said that we are in need of such institutions as offer equal opportunities to our womenfolk and where no one can intimidate or harass them.

The President of Pakistan congratulated Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and the entire administration of MUL for providing an excellent academic environment. He asked the women who have got higher education to spread knowledge in practical life.

He said that it has been observed that many women confine themselves to domestic life and play no role in public life, which is a waste of precious and scarce resources. He said that every member of the society would have to take part in the national reconstruction. President Arif Alvi gave away gold medals to the students for their excellent academic performance.

In his address to the convocation through video link, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Chairman of the Board of Governors of MUL, said that the educated youth holds the key to the national progress and prosperity. He said that education is of no use without training. He asked the youth to establish a relationship with education and research and focus on their character-building. He congratulated the students on achieving milestones in their academic journey.

Prof Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, VC Prof Dr Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and Registrar Khurram Shahzad warmly welcomed President Arif Alvi on his arrival at the convocation. Punjab Assembly Speaker Sardar Sibtain Khan also delivered his speech at the convocation.

Deputy Chairman, Board of Governors of MUL, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri extended a warm welcome to the President of Pakistan and thanked him for being the guest of honour. He said that the imparting of modern education, training and research is the distinction of MUL. He congratulated the students on getting medals in recognition of their hard work and academic performance.

Prof Dr Javed Iqbal and Inayat ullah Lak, Secretary of the Punjab Assembly were also in attendance at the convocation as special guests. Degrees were awarded among 1562 graduates, out of which 57 students won gold medals, 172 received roll of honours and 62 got merit scholarships. Many students belonging to the various departments were given awards and Rs. 100,000 per student for their excellent performance.
